 Next steps in the Pier 400, Berth 408 Project- The Port of Los Angeles and the Army Corps of Engineers are the lead agencies overseeing Pier 400, Berth 408 project approval process. These agencies prepared and released the draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) and the draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS).
- After extensive review and public hearings, the Board of Harbor Commissioners approved the Pier 400, Berth 408 project’s DEIR/DEIS in the fourth quarter of 2008, and the Los Angeles City Council approved the Pier 400, Berth 408 project’s DEIR/DEIS in the second quarter of 2009.
- Those approvals cleared the way for Pacific L.A. Marine Terminal LLC to begin negotiations on a plan and lease agreement with the Port of Los Angeles.
- The final plan and lease agreement will be submitted to the Board of Harbor Commissioner’s for consideration and approval.
- The project and lease agreement will then be considered by the Los Angeles City Council.
- An application for a permit to construct will also be obtained from the Southern California Air Quality Management District.
- Other permits will need to be obtained from several additional agencies.
- Throughout the process, Pacific L.A. Marine Terminal LLC will be engaged in dialogue the community, environmental and regulatory groups.
- Commencement of construction for the Pier 400, Berth 408 project is subject to the completion of the land lease with the Port of Los Angeles and receipt of environmental and other approvals as noted above.
